February Trainings

02/03/25 Air Consumption Training

Each year, our members take on the “Gauntlet,” a physical test performed in full turnout gear while breathing through a SCBA. The Gauntlet involves lifting tools, dragging hoses and dummies, swinging a sledgehammer, climbing ladders, and carrying hoses up a flight of stairs. The test is timed, and members aim to complete as many revolutions as possible. This exercise helps our firefighters gauge how much air they use during strenuous tasks.

02/10/25 EMS Shock

Our second training of the month focused on shock, a critical condition caused by a drop in blood pressure. Shock can result from several factors, such as blood loss, severe burns, infections, allergic reactions, or even emotional stress. Symptoms include pale, cold skin, rapid breathing, a weak pulse, and confusion. During the session, our providers reviewed how to recognize and treat patients in shock, discussing the best approaches for managing different types, including hemorrhagic, septic, and anaphylactic shock. Training emphasized early identification and the importance of stabilizing the patient with techniques like fluid resuscitation, controlling bleeding, and airway management. This vital training helps ensure our team is prepared to respond to shock-related emergencies with confidence and precision.

02/24/25 Strategy, Tactics, and Command with Assistant Chief Farley

For our final training of the month, Assistant Chief Farley provided an in-depth look at strategy, tactics, and command structure during structural fires. He discussed the company officer's mindset when arriving on scene, operating at the scene, and handling the aftermath. Chief Farley’s expertise in incident management brings invaluable insight to our team, and we are incredibly grateful to have him.

A Sprint into 2025

As of 02/25/25, CFPD has responded to 135 Fire/EMS calls, putting us a full month ahead of schedule for the year. Our crews have worked diligently to start 2025 strong. Along with managing the higher call volume, our members have participated in EMS/Fire classes, started new full-time fire jobs, gotten married, and much more. We cannot thank our members enough for all they do for CFPD. Without their dedication, time, and effort, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Thank you!

As we move forward into the year, it’s clear that our members continue to go above and beyond in every aspect of their work. From responding to an increased call volume to participating in vital training sessions, their dedication and commitment to serving our community are unwavering. We are incredibly proud of all the hard work and personal sacrifices our members make daily. As always, we are grateful for the support of our community, and we look forward to continuing to serve with excellence in the months ahead. Thank you to all who help make CFPD the incredible organization it is!
